As a responsible tour provider it’s imperative that it’s done as safely as possible at affordable prices. It’s no secret that India has some of the most dangerous roads in the world.

Many of the vehicles on Indian roads are simply not road worthy and are a accident waiting to happen. With the influx of tourists this has also created a black market. Locals and friends of crews are advertising taxi and transport services that sadly are not legal or safe. We cannot emphasise enough how dangerous these vehicles are and sometimes the savings these individuals offer are no more than a few pounds.

We would always advise crew to use a tour operator who is registered with the Indian government and someone who uses a modern fleet of vehicles, these vehicles should have similar safety features that cars in UK/Europe would have as standard.

If local branded vehicles are being used, then this should set the alarm bells as these vehicles are local bottom end vehicles used by locals, in many cases they have no or very little safety features.

In India domestic vehicles do not have any type of testing to say whether a vehicle is road worthy or not. Any reputable tourist company will tend to use Japanese/European or American developed vehicles, which are no more than four- five years old, the exception of minibuses, which are force India and are derived from a Mercedes.

Before making any bookings, simple steps like checking if the tour operator has a website, displays government license registration details etc. This will help you ensure that you are booking a trip with someone who is registered.
